The National Recovery Committee was established by the Government Act Order No. 154 of 2018 and is responsible for oversight and governance of recovery projects funded by donor partners and the Vanuatu Government. It is also responsible for reporting to Government and other stakeholders on progress of recovery projects. The Department of Strategic Planning and Aid Coordination (DSPPAC) under the Prime Minister’s Office is the Secretariat for the NRC, and is responsible for coordinating recovery efforts. The Department of Local Authorities (DLA) is responsible for coordinating programs and services.

Under the Government Act (Cap 243, gazetted as the National Recovery Committee Order 154 of 2018), responsibility for disaster recovery are delegated to the National Recovery Committee (NRC), whose secretariat is the Department of Strategic Policy, Planning and Aid Coordination (DSPPAC) that sits under the Prime Minister’s Office.
