The Council of Minister (COM) in its Decision Number 342 on December 9 2021 approved the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) Roadmap. COM in its decision, also noted the significance of the NDRF as an important pillar for the formulation of a Disaster Recovery Act, which is anticipated to be in place in 2022.
The development of the framework commenced in 2019 involving an in-depth consultation process with DSPPAC engaging broadly with government institutions, civil society organizations and private sector businesses and other essential stakeholders
The National Recovery Committee (NRC) with technical support from the DSPPAC is responsible for facilitating coordination, implementation and monitoring of the NDRF, through DSPPAC’s newly established Disaster Recovery Unit.
The NDRF Roadmap has been developed with support from the World Bank funded Vanuatu Infrastructure and Reconstruction Project (VIRIP).
